Heat Magazine isn't as good as it used to be....or am I getting old?

It's just not doing it for me so much any more - find myself getting to Thursday and realising I have forgotton to buy it...what's that all about? I used to practically camp outside the newsagents on a Monday night ready to pick my copy up before it even hit the stand. Is it not as good or am I just a little too old for it now? Don't like that thought one little bit. Humph.

agree -- i gave up on it this summer. too much nadia. i mean, come on. also i think it's not quite as sharp as it used to be? the picture captions used to be works of genius.

cupcakes · 30/11/2004 13:14

No - you're right, it's rubbish nowadays. Tuesday nights were my sitting-on-the-sofa-reading-heat nights but I was getting through the whole thing in 10 minutes. Very bored of the filling of pages with Jade etc. And way too much of the Beckhams.

bigbanana · 30/11/2004 13:14

oh my god, that's bad - I've never not bought it...still get that old pang of excitement when I go to buy it, but am sorely disappointed when I get it home. I think there's a new gap in the market for something for mums that is trashy-kitch but useful as well?

I still like the fashiony pages but the mainstay of the magazine has gone to pot. Although I did pick it up this morning to find out which 4 of the spice girls robbie has slept with...

cupcakes · 30/11/2004 13:17

... and it didn't know.

bigbanana · 30/11/2004 13:20

I like the body language on celebs bit, becuase I know the woman that writes it! Still like 'spotted' - quite reassuring to hear about D list celebs doing their shopping in Tescos etc!

also lack of accuracy: in I'm a Celebrity ... article they refer to Natalie as having an insect in her bed...methinks it was a spider!

also i didn't like the (newish) pages and pages of celebrity spots, or celebrity sweat patches. that's why I used to buy celeb magazines, so I didn't have to look at the spots and sweat patches of the general populace as i ate my lunch. we're not stupid, we know famous people like jessica simpson, say, whoever SHE may be get zitty and sweaty, but it's not nice to have to look at pages of examples over a cup of coffee.

codswallop · 30/11/2004 13:46

Jessica Simpson is a singer - a more wholesome version of Britney - who also appeared in a reality TV show with her husband called Newlyweds. She's known for being ultra thick.

Ashamed I know this.

codswallop · 30/11/2004 13:48

Schmozer · 30/11/2004 13:50

Have exhausted my knowledge of Miss Simpson. Ask me about someone else.

bakedpotato · 30/11/2004 13:53

[boast] i once had a letter printed in heat in the days when it was good.i snitched on Lady Victoria Hervey coddy may not know who she is, either -- who did work experience at my old office when she was 16 or so. i remember she wore navy elephant cords and a chunky blue jersey emblazoned with a galloping horse

bigbanana · 30/11/2004 13:56

Sienna Miller - Get over her already. I am soooo sick of her (not just jealous of her having beautiful boyfriend) but sick of this style icon that she's supposed to be - again it may be a sign of my age (eek) but I think she looks like something the cat dragged in.

one thing i want to know despite myself. i saw somewhere, maybe on front cover of heat in newsapgents, that nadia (i know i said i couldn't care less about her, and really, i don't, and yet...) had split up with her boyfriend, ricardo. now, just tell me that wasn't ricardo from the salon.

bigbanana · 30/11/2004 14:02

No Ricardo 'love rat' - her portugese boyfriend
