I have this weekend. Emailed someone who I used to be very close friends with when I was at school. She didn't go to my school, but we met regularly, went out drinking together regularly etc etc. After leaving school we lost touch completely, but have in the last year or so kept in sporadic contact again.

As I'm going to be staying near where she lives in a few weeks time I decided to email her and ask if we could meet-up. Told her I'd be up with my DS's.

She emailed me and invited us to "afternoon tea" at her house (makes her sound really posh - she's not its just - in her words tea, juice and cake is easier than lunch LOL).

I emailed back and said it would be lovely, if she was ok with having 3 young boys in her house.......her response was that she'd never had 3 young boys in the house but she was sure it would be absolutely fine.

It was then I realised what a pr*t I must have sounded.....I've spent so long only socialising with other parents that the prospect of taking my DS's to a house where there are no children (yet) fills me with dread and makes me feel I should warn them

you are not a prat, Ithink it's only fair to warn people without children. I know what you mean though, everyone else I know is similarly knackered, has similarly messy house and snot covered shoulders, would feel strange to spend an afternoon with a "normal" person!

if she's never had 3 boys in the house before she needs a far bigger warning IMO

suggest you meet in a cafe in a park instead

lol @ normal person.

Twig - no she's fine about - and actually DS1 and 2 are pretty sensible (as boys go) when we're out and about, and DS3 (as yet) isn't mobile so shouldn't be too much of an issue.
