Found baby hedgehog in garage - advice?

We've just found a baby hedgehog asleep in our garage. Having done a little research, we've now gently moved it and popped it in a big high sided cardboard box. It seems healthy and its bowels certainly work, as there's now a lot of poo in our garage! I'll see if I can contact a hedgehog rescue place tomorrow, but just wondering if we should just pop it back outside tomorrow morning...?

There's a MNer on here called @halstead who rescues hedgehogs and put up a post called something like 'let me tell you something about hedgehogs' a few weeks ago. Would be worth tracking that down and seeing if they can help with advice.

Ah, here it is To tell you a bit about Hedgehogs? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4624396-to-tell-you-a-bit-about-hedgehogs

Definitely don't release it in the morning when it's getting light. Either release it now or wait until tomorrow night after the rescue has checked it over.

You can offer meat flavour cat biscuits and water to keep it going in the meantime (it would be good if you can do this anyway as an ongoing support tbh).

Hi @BearBirdBaboon … any chance you can weigh it?

Potato28 · 01/10/2022 23:30

Meat based puppy food and water only

Thank you for your advice everyone. We've taken the hoglet to a rescue place now, so it's being well looked after. 🙂
