am a lone parent with a sixteen month old... i now know what all my friends and family are doing for new years and not one has invited us and i have no child care possibilities, so...

thinking about going abroad. somewhere with sunshine, but not scorching, and only a reasinably tight budget...

questions are:

  1. where should we go - would prefer not to got to a concrete jungle, but if i could avoid lugging a travel cot, it would be great

  2. any advice for travelling alone with a scarily fast toddler

  3. how do you cope with being alone on hols?

any other relevent tips gratefully received
thank you

hi

i went to amsterdam last year for new years. it wasn't warm at all but they had a big street party in dam square in the centre of the city. i didn't have any kids with me but thought it would be a great place to go for new year with kids as everyone was out in the streets and not like home where most people go to clubs/pubs then have a family and have to stay in or go out without children. only thing was the dutch love to throw lit fireworks into the crowds which was a bit scary at times!!!!!

went back in feb with a 4yo, who had a really good time - was really fussed over in our hotel and everywhere we went and loved it. it was really cold though, but it was cheap to get to , easyjet and would definitly go back.

hth.
