So angry. Someone has damaged my new car.

DS2 took us out for an Indian last night. We were out from 5.45pm to just after 8pm and in that time some bastard kind soul has seemingly reversed their large with towbar into our driveway at speed and staved in the back of my brand new car I've had for one month

I have watched next door's visitors turn round using our other neighbours driveways recently so that was my first thought when I found the damage this morning, but obviously I've no idea who did it, and as much as I'd like to I can't go chucking allegations around.

To make me feel even better I've got out the insurance docs to find that when I changed the car they put the excess up from £100 to £150 without telling me and stupidly I didn't check (didn't occur to me they'd do that). I've only recently changed insurers because the one I was with before wanted a higher excess and the new one had offered £100.

DH doesn't think it's worth calling the police because he says they won't do anything. The insurance company said I'm not obliged to but it's up to me. Is it worth bothering?

What makes me really angry is there is constant foot and vehicle traffic at that time of day so somebody must have seen something but nobody let us know.

My last car was in the drive and someone under cover of darkness tried to carve their initials into the front of it not long after I got it. They aren't flash or expensive cars, just normal vehicles. I can't have anything nice

Have you asked around - neighbours, people who live across the road? Put a few signs up on trees asking whether anyone saw anything? Someone might have seen it happen.

Don't think there's much point TBH. The people most likely to be using my drive to turn round are visitors to the immediate neighbour each side so they are likely to be quite defensive if I knock.

Just can't believe someone can do that much damage and just drive off. It must have made a large bang at the very least so it's not as if they wouldn't have realised.
