Self employement question - Owner driver taxi

Hi wondering if anyone can answer my probably obvious question... DP has recently changed jobs to an owner driver taxi er, driver. Does he need a business account to pay into for this? Can he not just use his current account? And how do you register for tax?

it makes life a lot simpler if you have a separate account to track what went where, which expenses are tax deductible, and so on. See also this thread
