How much does a flat cost to buy in Barcelona?

You'd think it would be easy to find flats for sale in Barcelona on the internet but I haven't had much luck - everything seems to be in Sitges and other seaside resorts. Just wondered if anyone knows roughly how much a flat in central Barcelona would cost?

A lot!!! and it depends on what sort of flat you are looking for, size, the general condition of the building, your neighbours, etc. It will be significantly more expensive than one in a seaside resort.

I would not recommend buying/arranging views through the internet (international agents normally sell at higher prices than nationals), I would recommend you to go over there and spend a couple of weeks trying to find something. If you have a local friend who can advise you about the areas take advantage of her/his knowledge. I have some friends who live in a wonderful flat in a converted XIX palace in the city center but they also have a very dangerous slum around the corner, not a good thing if you are walking at night.

Good luck, hope it helps

It's not for me! Dp wants to buy a flat there as a holiday place!

Thanks for the info chandra. We are planning a trip over there early next year, so will have a look at property while there. Unfortunately I don't have any friends/contacts there with inside knowledge. At the moment dp just wants a rough idea of how much a 1 or 2 bed apartment would cost, preferably in the Barrio Gotic or Barceloneta.

you'll need more than 1 bedroom for all the visiting mumsnetters (and their kids)

£100k AT LEAST - depending on size & how close to the trendy bit! Dh & I looked at it last year before we had a baby instead...

Be really wary of registering on internet sites btw...I did & they've obviously sold the list on recently, as I'm currently being bombarded with calls from people wanting to sell me 'my dream property in Spain'.

He's looking at a budget of E100-150K, I'm wondering how much he would get for that

No idea how the market's changed since I looked - but then it would've been a studio in the Eixample or Barrio Gotica, 2 bedder in the suburbs?

Not much bang for your buck really! But as I say it may have changed completely.

Thanks carrie, that is helpful, at the moment i'm just looking for a very rough idea. We will go out there to check it out in more detail.
