Has anyone noticed that labouring women in Holby never have epidurals? They either pant away manfully or are given super-emergency c-sections.

No particular axe to grind, I just thought this the other day while watching it!

isn't ed a pillock on holby though?

fairydust · 05/04/2004 00:56

jess's fella stole ricks address out her address book thing - i think he was the one that smacked rick one as well

lydialemon · 05/04/2004 00:59

Of course somethings going to happen with Jess, it's SO being set up - do you think Mr psycho ex-patient will abduct her (like the passenger in the car?)

dottee · 05/04/2004 01:14

Great a Holby thread - I'm addicted to the programme! Tape ran out last week when I was recording it so I didn't see Ric assaulted. Was it Jess's new psycho-fella?

Tom was on Breakfast TV a few months back saying he was leaving - I wonder if Ed sort of gets found out and Tom carries the can.

dottee · 05/04/2004 02:02

Just read next week's preview - the blood test guy tries to bribe Ed. and Donna makes a play for Ed too. Busy boy!

lazyeye · 05/04/2004 19:21

Haven't read whole thread so someone might have said this, but bloody hell, haven't they heard of NOTICE at Holby?

Cath Supremo Nurse decides to quit and hey presto shes outta there by teatime?

Her boyfriend is spooky......

Moomin · 05/04/2004 19:32

Enjoyed seeing the second patient in two weeks being admitted to the new Stairwell Ward last night!
Also was on the phone for part of it - why did Chrissie leave the bar in a strop?

lazyeye · 05/04/2004 19:35

With Cath leaving she thought she was in with chance of Caths job (she got promotion). So she rang whoever with ultrasexy voice, but was obviously told she wasnt second choice. Not bleedin' 10th choice if you ask me. She wasn't happy.

Think thats a bit daft actually. Crissie has always been a bit of a daftie when it comes to men, but knew where to draw the line in terms of work......that interview was stupid with her showing her thighs and all.

Am not obsessed or owt...do have a life of me own (well sort of)

bundle · 05/04/2004 19:40

lazyeye, her thighs? brazilian more like
(btw, I think we have the same name )

lazyeye · 05/04/2004 19:47

Oh apologies for saying it was boring. I remember Dadslib quoting it as a terrible common name and being quite upset.......

bundle · 05/04/2004 19:55

i'd be worried if he thought it was ok
ps what do you think of the 2 new holby girls?

lazyeye · 05/04/2004 19:59

Ace - needs livening up a bit. Having fun time trying to work out where Donna's accent is from. Sounds West Country to me.

bundle · 05/04/2004 20:00

i love how she's so lazy

lydialemon · 05/04/2004 20:54

There was a programme on BBC last week about the introduction of Donna and the other one (whose name I can't remember!) It's the actors real accent, just hammed up a bit and she's from where ever it is Holby's meant to be.

I feel sorry for Mubs - he shouldn't have hit the girls, but by god are they annoying spoilt little madams. I hope for their parents sake they are good actors!

bundle · 05/04/2004 20:58

missed quite a bit of last night due to phone calls/cooking supper - what were those long, lingering looks about between mubbs/whatshername the midwife when that couple were talking about (I assume) fertilised eggs??

bluesky · 05/04/2004 21:06

Thanks Mez

gold123 · 05/04/2004 21:22

So glad to see this thread - I am sooooo addicted - I have just started a evening job and finish work at 8 so I always miss the first 10 minutes - did anything interesting happen, and why is it every time you sit down to eat your dinner, they start operating ? I am so glad I wasn't eating spaghetti boll last night. I am so addicted sometimes I watch old episodes on UK Gold. I too have a life - honest !

gold123 · 05/04/2004 21:23

I think they were looking at each other because they were walking about taking on another mans child

tinyganghq · 08/04/2004 20:09

Only recently got into Holby, but now I'm hooked! The new girl's accent is from Bath I think. The reason I know this is cos there was a programme on a week or so ago about how they chose the two new actresses from a selection of four others. It was quite interesting because the programme showed them reading different characters to the ones they ended up playing. They were all good, but the two they decided on worked particularly well together.

Liked a recent storyline of the woman in labour whose partner didn't want her to have any pain relief or medical intervention despite the fact that she obviously did! He just kept playing this annoying music tape to 'relax' her. Think I would've decked him!!

Moomin · 08/04/2004 20:26

Holby's sposed to be based in Bristol isn't it? So it's well over-due that there should be a nurse in it with a west-country accent - the first ever! (And there aren't too many patients with the accent either)
