after hte dsicussion otn eh " d ow e need baby books " thread
what a bout a book called " its a boy!" ( or girl)
and then you have tips for childcare realted to that sex and it could go right up to say 4 /5 yrs and recommend toys or games or coping strategies for each age.

It wodul be gender specific and also deal with difierent learning sty;les of methods of sanction.

Like "get a crane for a three year old and a ball ind the summer is good too!"

that would be excellent. There's been a few books that i've thought up while reading threads on here but forgotten them now! Someone should do it.....

zephyrcat · 18/11/2004 20:50

would be nice to have a gender specific book based on real life fact rather than some stuffy psycologist or doctors beliefs!!!

codswallop · 18/11/2004 20:51

anbd how to clean bums after doing willies
( to be crude)

OP posts:
codswallop · 18/11/2004 20:52

or " make verything a competition for boys of any age"

OP posts:
zephyrcat · 18/11/2004 20:53

lol exactly but what would mums prefer to read - crude, simple and blatantly honest or something that makes them feel they are not reaching expectations!! At least it would show we are all crap sometimes, all scared sometimes and all just as mad as each other but our kids all turned out alright!!!

codswallop · 18/11/2004 20:54

yes yes yes
well gang?

OP posts:
codswallop · 18/11/2004 20:54

zephyrcat · 18/11/2004 20:54

must stop having cunning ideas ,
have also recommended to school that they apply to t eh probation service to egt various bits of gounds maintenance done by poeple on community punishment orders

zephyrcat · 18/11/2004 21:00

we could start a thread asking eveyone to just put 'yes' or 'no' for permission to use their threads/posts then whoever wants to help out writes up a chapter each on a specific subject, that way it gets done quicker and has different styles of writing - then when everyone is done we compile the whole lot and send it to a publisher - easy peasy!!!

emmatmg · 18/11/2004 21:01

Good idea coddy.

I'd say a least twice as many boy ones need to be published though as everyone is having boys lately.

Makes me worry that my boys will be fighting over a wife in years to come

JJ · 18/11/2004 21:02

think it's stupid and a windup.

zephyrcat · 18/11/2004 21:12
Sad
enid · 18/11/2004 21:47

I'll do the girls one

enid · 18/11/2004 21:48

zephyrcat · 18/11/2004 21:49

enid · 18/11/2004 21:50

Hi guys

If it's Ok with you we'll talk this over at our next mumsnet meeting (beginning of Dec) and get back to you.

Thanks

prufrock · 19/11/2004 08:20

zephyrcat - Mumsnet already "owns" the right to publish anything written on the site. And surely following the theme of the previous two they would have to be called simply "Mums on Boys" and "Mums on Girls"

JoolsToo · 19/11/2004 08:25

I think its good idea - except I think the pc brigade might frown on a 'gender specific' book iykwim

nailpolish · 19/11/2004 08:28

think its a great idea. i have 2 girls and would like one on tips raising girls. i like to read these books, think books are ok as long as you dont follow them religiously and adapt them to your own personal circumstances!

Marina · 19/11/2004 09:22

I think it's a great idea coddy.
