Anyone know how to make Christmas swags etc????

Can anyone tell me the best way to keep foliage (specifically ivy) fresh in a swag? I am intending to tie rather a lot of it to some rope to make a swag for my hall for a party on 18 December, but I think it may have died by Christmas Day. Would wet tissue in silver foil do the trick?

I don't think you can really.
I decorate with lots of fresh holly - I tend to do it the day before christmas Eve and to be honest it lasts at least a week before it begins to look dry and tatty.
