I our house, being a good jewish famly!! Santa brings the stocking presents and that is it.

This year we will have the 8 days of Channukkah and they will get a pressie every day (little one) and one big one onthe last day. At Christmas their stocking form Santa and one pressie from us.

Presents are all from us, but Father Christmas picks them up amd delivers them if they behave!!

I wouldn't want some made up person to get all the credit for my fabulous choice in toys!

Oh, I got so excited reading your post wobblyknicks ! Felt like a little girl again. It's a shame your other friends didn't have the same experience, good idea to keep quiet about it I think.
I did it with DD since she was little but she had no idea of course. Now she's 3 I'm very interested to see her reaction and see if she'll help cleaning the shoes or if any of it makes any sense to her.

Know what you mean Branster - I felt little again writing it!!! Even if your dd doesn't think much of it this year - I bet from next year she'll be really excited!!!

Santa Claus (who is St. Nicholas surely) brings only one present for each of our boys. The rest is from us.

BUT we do track him all day on the NORAD site and he checks on both boys while they are asleep. We know because he leaves a trail of black glittery soot from the fireplace, round the house and up to their rooms. The guys have always gotten a bog thrill out of following the trail to their presents in the morning.

We celebrate Solstice rather than Christmas, but do still have a mythical and mysterious present giver who fills our stockings; over stuffed with little wrapped presents, from the sublime to the ridiculous. Adults and children alike have one it's my favourite bit!
Presents from us and other family members go under the tree (decorated with glittered papier mache suns, rather than baubles ).

We get ds pressies and put they into 2 piles, wrapping one set up differently as my 4 year old DS noticed last year that father xmas used the same wrapping paper and give one big sack from father xmas and the rest from us.
