Got blasted orange lily stamen over my dressing gown today. It's been through the wash but is still stained. Any advice on how to removed please. TIA

No! You should have used sellotape on it. I will have a think for you as once it has been washed in hot water it sets the stain.

What NAB said. I have a Book of Stains (would you believe), I'll report back if there's anything you can do after washing. This happened to DP on Christmas Day.

Oh noooooooo! I hadn't a clue what had stained it until after it came out of the machine and DH realised I'd been leaning in past the lillies to put kids milk in the micro this morning. I could cry. If you do think of anything, please please let me know. TIA

Oh

Next time don't rub it at all!!

Just stick the sellotape on it & pull the powder off!

When I got lily stamen on my good coat it never came out!!

Oh how annoying! I don't think it comes out . It's horrible stuff.

If your dressing gown is white, maybe you could try a weak bleach solution. Only if it's already white though.

As it's a dressing gown, a mad idea I suppose, but could you get a pretty iron on patch - a flower, butterfly or something to cover it up? Or would it look daft? Just a thought. Depends where it is, I guess.

Highly intrigued about your Book of Stains, Boho. Come to think of it, I could probably write my own the amount of laundry I do

Shall try and get a stain remover tomorrow and see what happens. D/gown is a lovely Per Una one - white with pink polka dots. The stains aren't as obvious as they were but they're still there. Oh well ... it's only a dressing gown at the end of the day!

Oh sorry - here's a thought I cut the lily stamens off.

Bit late and useless now - sorry - just wanted to share.

LadyOfTheHollyAndTheIvy · 28/12/2007 22:33

I don't think it comes out.
I was never allowed within 4 feet of mothers' lilys when I was little.

Madoldcatlady · 28/12/2007 22:33

Hey boho, does your book of stains have any hints on how to get a melted quality street out of a leather sofa?

I managed to get gloss paint off it the other day with saddle soap but this greasy choccy is refusing to budge!

Soz for the hijack.

boHOHOhemianbint · 29/12/2007 09:25

I'll have a look Madoldcatlady - although I think it might be a bit rubbish. It didn't mention the sellotape for lily stamens and the answer to everything seems to be "soak it in cold water."

I will look though, back in a bit.

Sorry about the dressing gown Millie - don't think I can help! You could try soaking it some more? In cold water!
