This morning we awoke to DD coughing her self into throwing up, followed by much crying and whinging, then more throw up. We all have the worse man flu ever, and have had it all week, so NO xmas shopping done.

I was very dispondant and down in the dumps, we ran out of kitchen roll and toilet paper (due to blowing of noses x100000000), we have no xmas lights for the tree, no turkey, NOTHING.

So, at 8.30 this morning, my DP despite having next to no sleep himself and what is fast becoming a chest infection popped out for some kitchen roll. He has taken advantage of the fact that sainsbury's was only manic as apposed to hell on earth to do ALL the food shopping. He has just rung to say he has gone to B&Q and is buying us a new prelit tree and did i want anything else??

Not one bit of stress shown, despite the volcano that must be festering inside him.

GOD I LOVE THAT MAN!!!!!!!

dh has taken the dds on the train today to see the Christmas lights in Carlisle so I can stay in bed all day again

he is doing all housework etc because I am ill and has been doing for the past 3 months, as well as working and looking after kids

he cooks all meals

he bought all Christmas food

last week he bathed and put kids to bed, made my dinner and then drove to Ikea an hour away to buy dd2's first bed for Santa to bring

MarktheheraldangelsStretch · 22/12/2007 12:23

He is going to buy all the Christmas food and booze as I can't face the supermarket. Oh and I have eleven prezzies under the tree, all from him hehe!

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 22/12/2007 12:25

Because he ahs managed to rearrange his shifts so he can help care for DS1 more next year, which is the best present for me but a hge change for him and means far less days off.

WeWhizzzYouAMerryXmas · 22/12/2007 12:25

because he's going to brave the supermarket today to get the food & because he's the one cooking Xmas dinner

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 22/12/2007 12:26

He is making 44 fairy cakes with each choristers initials on individual ones

Lizzylou · 22/12/2007 12:57

Oh, Lucyellensmum, that is lovely, you have yourself a good un there, hope you all feel better soon.
Dh is looking after the boys today whilst I am at work, delivering last minute presents, getting last minute things I forgot in the shop yesterday and will be finishing off the train tables he has made for them tonight, of which he is rightly proud but also very overexcited...I am thinking the boys will be elbowing Daddy away so that they can get to the train track!
He also put up with a week of my dysfunctional family last week

DanJARMouse · 22/12/2007 12:59

Can I nominate my dad for grandad of the day!

DH's knee has "gone" again today, Im not up to facing town with 3 kids, but I had promised the DD's we would go and see Santa today.

My dad, despite having been in town for 3hrs already this morning is taking them to see Santa this afternoon for me while I pop to tesco for the last few stocking bits.

I LOVE MY DAD!

SpookyMadMummy · 22/12/2007 13:29

My Dh

I have had a tough week with Mum and dd1 and he has took on childcare, (without complaining) been a taxi service (without complaining) has listened to me rant and rave, put up with endless phone calls and a million other small things I could mention.

Maybe what he did is normal, but he works more than full time hours and is not used to looking after the children for any great length of time.

Oh and he agreed to ttc no. 3

Thanks Dh, you're the best!

yulemoonfiend · 22/12/2007 13:32

he (with no prompting from me) braved the high street yesterday to find a second Wii remote/nunchuck thingy as the boys are getting a Wii as a joint pressie and it only comes with one controller. He rang up Game who said they were getting a delivery in 20 mins so he was there first in the queue as theya rrived. Hoorah!

And he has just braved the supermarket to get bits for ds's birthday party tomorrow.(mind you, he will use that as an excuse to doss around all day today now )

lucyellensmum · 22/12/2007 14:34

They are all bloody wonderful

My DP came home with a lovely christmas tree, pre lit (our lights are buggered) and gets it home, the bastard thing has no stand - so now, despite doing all the shopping, changing the wheel on the car and clearing out the car - he has taken the tree back to exchange or trapse about looking for more lights, all this despite being dead on his feet.

An EXTRA special bit of loving for him tonight me thinks

WatsIsForLifeNotJustForXmas · 22/12/2007 14:36

Cos my Dh has to work all night on Christmas Eve till 9 am Christmas day and hasn't given out about it once, and last Christmas night he had to do the same

Now, i have given out but that's another story

wessexgirl · 22/12/2007 14:36

He is at supermarket with dd1 right NOW!

Top bloke.

mufti · 22/12/2007 15:03

my dh cooks all meals, including a separate veggie feast for me as the only veggie.
and despite not liking christmas, willingly gets a tree and trims up , as he knows i love all that.

lucyellensmum · 22/12/2007 19:57

bump for all those whos men have been stars today, or women

DH took me from one town to another, just to see if I could get some make up with a particular free gift, even though we were supposed to be packing, cleaning and wrapping.

That was after he'd bought me some clothes.

AND he's bought what I asked for, for Christmas.

AND he's cooked a very simple Christmassy dinner tonight.

He is, however, pretty much a star the year through.
