The facts:
We complete on our house today.
I am at work until 5 today. I am also working full day tomorrow.
I still have some presents to buy.
We are going to ILs on christmas for a few nights.
It is a 2 hour drive away.
We have a 2 year old ds.
I still need to finish sewing up (by hand) my dsis present for delivery on boxing day and also a hobby horse ( sewing machine job) for ds.
We do not have to be out of our house lock stock and barrel until february.

The questions:
What do I do first?
Then what?
Then what?
What are the essentials for the next few nights in new (stinking of damp-proof chemicals)house?
Then what should I do?

shops are open late - can someone else look after DS

You need to finish the presents and get them to PO - although i don't think they will get there by Boxing day (could be wrong)

ignore house stuff - you aren't moving till Feb

packing on Sunday for Xmas journey

titchy · 20/12/2007 11:10

If you don't have to move till Feb forget all about the move and concentrate on Christmas!

Buy pressies in lunch hour if possible, otherwise this Saturday (good luck, it'll be heaving!), wrap them Saturday evening. Spend Sunday doing sewing machine jobs, then pack Sunday evening ready to drive to IL on Monday.

As to what you'll need in a smelly house.... hmmm, lots of perfume?

titchy · 20/12/2007 11:13

Oh does your Sis' pressie need posting? Don't think you have a hope it'll be there boxing day - sorry.

tigana · 20/12/2007 11:23

No...we are moving in next few days, 1st night in new house could be tonight or Friday night...our current house will be unlivable in, services stopped etc...we are renting it out from Feb onwards...work to be done on it in meantime.
Am seeing dsis on boxing day to hand deliver present.

Well assuming your furniture is either being moved for you or is staying then pack for new house tonight and aim to go straight to it from work tomorrow. Then spend Saturday pressie shopping and wrapping (leave dp with ds sorting house out) sunday on sewing machine so to IL Monday. sorted!

See...that is just the sort of level-headed, orderly and calm advice I needed to hear . Thanks titchy!
