Why Are All Estate Agents A Bunch Of Tossers??????

I am getting SO PO with their sales speil I have asked them to let me do unaccompanied viewings (if I am getting PO so must the prospective buyers), so the EA I spoke to today spent 10 minutes talking over me and tried to change my decision and I ended the call with 'thats fine, but I still want to do the viewings' and he audibly sighed!!!!!

That is the tip of the iceberg though, I expressed a vague interest in a house but said we could never afford it as it was over our budget but was told the vendors would accept a low offer within our reach. So we viewed the property, fell in love with it, put in our low offer and, guess what, the vendors want the asking price.

They have also told us that viewers are FTB and then we've found out they are in a chain afterall.

The peice de resistance is when we viewed another property, I called them to put in an offer and they asked me whether that was OK with my DH!!!!!!!!

Fuckers.

I had two viewings at my house last week and the estate agent was a tad sleazy who introduced himself with the "Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" and ended with "Just doing my job" after I thanked him...Richard Madeley type slimy man.

We have been house hunting for 6 months our house sold in one day, thing with us though is we have given what we want in a house and the price EA sent us loads of shit, then say we are being difficult one said have we looked on an island ...............i just think if i am paying i want a good house i'm looking at staying for 5-6 maybe 10yrs, they are shits all of them

Gobbledigook · 15/11/2004 12:43

They're a bloody waste of space.

'Sacking' mine today. Pants.

We had nightmare experiences with the sleazy sales-rep variety. Eventually used a small indepedent firm to both sell ours and buy another - they were fab . They set realistic asking prices and tended to get them, rather than playing the whole high marketing price and then spending weeks negotiating. imho, way better than the chains.

I casually wandered in to our local EA last week and asked to see details of a house, but then said it was too expensive (by about £200,000!) The EA said, "take it home and show your husband". I suppose she may have seen my wedding ring, but I hadn't mentioned a dh otherwise and I just thought how patronising. I am perfectly aware of our finances and what we can and cannot afford, and I do not need to show it to my dh to find out. She (yes, she was a woman) made it sound like if I fluttered my eyelashes and said Pretty please, my dh would indulge me with a 5 bedroomed house! I wish!

I met one nice one once who patted me on the shoulder while I was crying because my buyer had pulled out just before exchanging
But...I have to agree - all the rest are them are tossers

Nikkichik · 15/11/2004 13:48

know exactly what you mean! When we sold our house we got the spiel about colour photo coverage in the paper, posh glossy details, finding the right buyer for a family house through huge contact list, sending us relevant details for a new place blah, blah blah! Ended up with one poxy tiny black and white photo in the paper, no details cos the first person that came to view put an offer in and due to timing we had to accept it (it was the full asking price I admit). So we ended up giving them 4K for doing sod all!!! - they must have been laughing so hard!!! - bastards! also very and a bit cos our buyer was a buy to rent person and has turned our lovely family house into a student house!! Bo, hoo - so much for targeting the right buyers.

i hate them, they lied to us about our buyers last time too. said they were better buyers as they were FTB, had their mortgage in place etc. wanted a quick sale. It was rubbish. they were in rented, granted, but they had faultered on their last mortgage and had problems getting a mortgage, plus they dragged the sale out for 6 months

They have more faces than 'Big Ben'. One has just left and I was ear wigging at the bottom of the stairs. What a load of bull - I agree I would be better showing them around myself
