Looking at my ancestor who was a soldier on WW1, came home and married in a Catholic Church where she lived. But neither of them were catholic.
Isn’t that a bit strange? They did have to have a ‘special licence’ as presumably it was short notice whilst he was on leave or similar…was this common practice 100 years ago?
