Do you end up being an emotional wreck the next day?

I have been doing stints as a "client" for a woman doing various courses (all of the above), and although I love it - they make me feel all lovely and relaxed and I get oodles of energy about 2 days after... the first 24 hours are hell. I am much more snappy and emotional, and today I even had a panic attack in a shop which I haven't had for months (I will mention that to her, she might want to jiggle my oils around next time!).

Am I a freak or is this common?

(A freak in this respect, it wasn't a free for all answer )

No (to it happening to me).
Yes (to you being a freak).

ok what about cutting out one of them for a while? personally i would cut out acupuncture because i think there is actually some evidence of it having an effect, so if it's doing bad things for you then that's an effect. dh used to get severely depressed 48 hours after having acupuncture - unfortunately he was trying acupuncture for episodes of severe depression!

Oh, I don't do all of them at once - she did reflex the beginning of last year, massage in the summer, now we are on to aromatherapy massage.

It seems to be the release of everything sends me a bit argh for a while

massage doesnt agree with me at all (tho i totaly enjoy giving a massage) I get very headachey the following day even on the verge of migraine.

Look at what you are doing as well, make sure you drink plenty of clear fluids (water etc) and try to cut down on your caffeine intake for as long before your treatment as possible, I found this was the only way to control my side effects. Dunno about the panic attacks tho (I have suffered since I was 13) have never had one after any treatments -sorry cant help on that one.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 13/12/2007 15:55

Will go drink more water... she always tells me off about that.

lots of treatments can have quite odd sideeffects for a while after. For example Reike - does the same thing, can make some people feel on top of the world, while others feel like s.....!
I think they call a .....reaction, but can't at this moment remember what the .... is sorry that sounds stupid.

merrylissiemas · 13/12/2007 16:03

it can happen. its called a healing crisis and should have been explained to you. what happens is that holistics works on your body as a whole and when you are run down, tired or ill etc it can speed things up and make them worse. you shouldnt be having reflexology, massage and aromatherapy all at the same time. you should have a course of one, then another

littleboo · 13/12/2007 16:04

merrylissie , is that what its called , I knew it had a proper name.

merrylissiemas · 13/12/2007 16:05

yes, im doing level 3 holistics at the mo and we are told to explain about it. its your body working overtime to flush out toxins.

littleboo · 13/12/2007 16:24

Yes thats it, in Reike I think they also say a healing reaction due to the movement of energy etc.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 13/12/2007 21:39

She did explain it to me, just wanted to check that others do feel the same extremes.

I just want to stress that I am not having all 3 at once, I have had all 3 over the last 12 months.

Feeling much more sane now - sent her a text and she told me off for lack of fluids

Tomorrow I get to bounce.
