the more i think about it the more I think mine is stupid and I hate it!!!

OP posts:

Mine was Dicks - beat that! Went through school asking if my middle name was "likes sucking".

Now it is double-barrelled (husband's birth surname) but the second part gets called "-Dicks" instead of "__-Dukes". As if I would keep the "Dicks" part, I think not.

Mrs Wankling, bless her a little old dear that used to come into the hospital where I worked many years ago.

Frenchgirl · 10/11/2004 15:47

wonder if anyone is going to mention dh's surname (which I haven't taken!!).....

SoupDragon · 10/11/2004 15:47

I was delighted to get rid of my maiden name.

I know a Pratt.

SoupDragon · 10/11/2004 15:48

Oooh, and A Chicken

cat82 · 10/11/2004 15:53

I have known 1 Codd, 1 Goodjohn, 1 Cokaine, 1 Burke and 1 (my favourite) McRitchie-Pratt

cat82 · 10/11/2004 15:55

Oh and Titania i know your surname and i think it's really nice!

Sozie · 10/11/2004 15:58

In dd's playgroup last year there was a Pert and a Bottom

CathB · 10/11/2004 16:03

My married name is a place name and always prompts bad attempts at the accent. Like I never heard that before... Worse still, I am from there too, though its not where I met DH. I use my maiden name professionally!

bonym · 10/11/2004 17:22

Oh god Frizbe, one of my best friends was married to a Coxhead - they're divorced now. Don't think she was sad to get shot of the name!

I've got an awful surname (not rude just plain daft), wish I'd thought of taking my mother's maiden name instead!

Jennisaurus · 10/11/2004 23:51

I knew a cockin

nightowl · 11/11/2004 02:29

well i had the choice with dd...my boring plain surname or her father's really stupid one. lumbered the poor? girl with mine in the end. better dull than silly i reckoned.

i did know a guy named allcock once.

xSimone · 08/04/2017 20:10

I'm late to the party, anyhow..

I've known some messed up surnames..

I knew a guy who's lastname was 'Hore'
A girl who's lastname was Lovecox
And two of my teachers names, Miss Hellwie (Hell Wee) and Drinkwater.

There was also a boy named Ronald Sole, but in school your first name was shorted to the first letter, so he was called out in the role as 'R Sole' (Asshole)
