Am I okay with 7 rounds each consisting of 10 questions, covering: General Knowledge, Music & Lit, History, Geography, Current Affairs, Science, and Sport

or do I need to do more categories (tbh I am getting a bit weary of finding the questions now and checking 'em out)

Also, bearing in mind it is a charity quiz raising money for an educational establishment (don't want to make the quiz too identifiable) and our aim is to raise funds, is this a reasonable prize for the winners?

*8 cans of Boddingtons
*2 bottles of wine
*and a small box of chocolates

or will I have a riot when they are presented with these paltry offerings?

The winning team will consist of a maximum of 6 members

I don't think people really mind what the prize is at things like this - it's the glory and gloating that count.
Can you do 8 rounds? No reason other than it is a nice even number and then you can have 4 rounds and an interval and then 4 more rounds.

WendyWeber · 04/12/2007 21:25

Offerings sound not at all paltry - do the winners get all of that or is that 3 prizes? Is there a booby prize?

Agree with mollymawk about having an 8th round (and that WINNING is what matters .

You haven't got an image round, you could do famous-ish faces, or logos, or badges, or something else like that (anagrams maybe? or those puzzles like 52 C in a P?) which people twiddle with in between question rounds?

mollymawk · 04/12/2007 21:30

Oh yes, some sort of "table round" would be good. More questions to devise though! There must be somewhere you could find a list of things like "52 C in a P" etc.

gigglewitchyouamerryxmas · 04/12/2007 21:31

it sounds fine to me....particularly for an educational "establishment" how posh
where one would not wish to have inebriated individuals upon one's conscience.

if you want an eighth round, make it a spelling test - easy for you, just get the most awkward words out of the Oxford English and somewhat appropriate for the educational 'theme'.

eager quiz-aholics around here do it for a tin of beer and the glory to feed their egos! your offering is much more generous than that

handlemecarefully · 04/12/2007 21:36

I am loving the spelling test round, so easy! That's great

I have done a table round of Christmas anagrams

Glad you think the prize is okay

Incidentally am just going to post my sports round

mollymawk · 04/12/2007 21:40

Aha, yes, I forgot about the anagrams.
Sport qu's! I think I may be better off not attempting those...
[sexist emoticon] post them in The Men's Room

gigglewitchyouamerryxmas · 04/12/2007 21:46

cool

gigglewitchyouamerryxmas · 04/12/2007 21:47

is the men's room supposed to be a lavatory?

joyfulspike · 05/12/2007 21:19

how about a wooden spoon for the losers - that's what we have at our local. Otherwise, I don't think anyone is really in it for the prize, just the glory!
