How do you find out who owns an empty building?

I want to lodge an interest in a building that is empty but I dont know how to find out who owns it.

Any ideas?

the land registry can tell you who holds the title deeds -- who the freeholder is. they can look it up it for you, or you can go in person in which case you;ll get the results quicker. there's a fee.
