Dancing elephants at 5.30 is good timing. They can entertain the early rising DS2 while I make a cup of tea. And if you've been following the Xmas thread, you'll know 73 people for lunch is no great novelty. JUST PROMISE ME THEY WON'T BE RELATED TO DH!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!

I've had a fabulously naff "life begins at 40" card, now displayed in pride of place on the dresser. And my oldest friend has sent a National Trust one of autumn leaves. Not sure if she's being ironic or not...

But DD, who just started in reception, came out of school today clutching wonky, lime green cards from her and her friend. I came over all tearful cos her friend had written "Dear Mummy" like all mummies are called Mummy, and the teacher had inserted DD's name between "Dear" and "Mummy". And lovely pictures of princesses and everything.

Oh yes be prepared for people thinking you've suddenly developed bad taste and buying you "suitable" cards
