I'm assuming he's on to them and getting it sorted out!

beansprout · 26/11/2007 13:16

OMFG indeed!!!

My god, they are shoite.

LydiaTheTattooedLapin · 26/11/2007 13:16

Blimey, what are you running in your house!

(also that your DH has that sort of cash to take out )

I am assuming this might be a business account... has he rung them yet?

dilbertina · 26/11/2007 13:17

talk to bank - if taken on Direct Debit incorrectly and without prior notification you should be able to get it straight back.

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 26/11/2007 13:18

I would blame the HMRC

Mental note: Must remember that saving money is better than spending if to ever reach £17K

GooseyLoosey · 26/11/2007 13:18

Get in touch with energywatch as well

dressedupnowheretogotilxmas · 26/11/2007 13:18

thats horrendous if done by direct debit you can have it back plus any charges too do 17,000 pounds worth of nectar points too??????

LadyOfTheFlowers · 26/11/2007 13:18

I was wondering that too....
Did he have 17k for them to draw?
There si no way a bank would make an account 17k overdrawn......

is there?

They would if it was a company account

LazyLinePainterJane · 26/11/2007 13:21

Did you leave the PC on overnight again?

theslownorris · 26/11/2007 13:21

No! I can't believe the BS let them take it. It's a cock-up with the meter readings. (Relates to a previous rented property).

I have been on to EDF and I have to say the chap I spoke to was very helpful. Fortunately they have records for the meter readings (gas btw) and have been able to work out where the mistake was made. I have to confess we were a bit lax about opening our post & doing our own readings .
It made it appear to have gone from 35442 to 6022 which is a phenomenal amount
