Anyone ordered anything from Amazon recently?

I ordered some stuff yesterday, apparently without problems. Got a confirmation email to say the order had been processed and that the estimated date of despatch would be 24 December to 7 January !!

WTF?

Why did I not know this as I placed the order? It said nothing about the items not being in stock or anything and as these were supposed to be christmas presents, I am mightily peeved. Anyone else had this, or know what it's about?

Yes, we use Amazon a lot. Last week I ordered some gifts for dd. They said they would deliver by the 16th Nov. When it was not here on the 20th we rang them and they said that TNT had a computer failure and thus could not process any deliveries. They also said they had sent Royal Mail into TNT to collect all Amazon parcels and deliver them. They then said my parcel would be with me within 2 days, but infact it arrived that afternoon!

So once again, good service, and I have nothing but praise for them!

O ordered DVDs last weekend said they were in stock- however confirmation email states delibvery by 15th December WTF.

As long as they are here by xmas I wont stress

I've got a load of stuff in my basket waiting to be ordered for Christmas- just tried to pay and checkout- if I pay for first class delivery then they will, all but one arrive by Christmas. If I go for free delivery, none will

Think that this MUST be due to the launch of Amazon Prime- you pay £49 for free first class delivery for a year. Bet they're trying to get people to sign up for that

I think I'll chance it, and go for free delivery, as most of the stuff I could buy in town and cancel if necessary.

I've ordered 2 items about 2 weeks ago, I questioned the delay in delivery and got an email today saying:

The vast majority of our orders are usually delivered well within the expected delivery time; however, occasionally a package may be damaged or delayed, perhaps even lost during the delivery process.

A backlog is currently resulting in some packages arriving 2-3 days later than expected. This is not a common occurrence and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are endeavouring to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We would ask for you patience in this matter.

We take full responsibility should any item become lost or damaged while being delivered and we are more than happy to replace these items at a cost to ourselves.

If your package does not arrive by December 03, 2007, please let us know using the link below so we can take the appropriate action.
