trouser suit and boots sounds perfect. I have 2 boys and the best presents were photo frames - tasteful ones of course. Then they can have them in their own houses when they leave home. I do like the religous books route as well, but was given practically everything in print for the first one and so by the time we had the second, I had five inscribed copies of the Lion Children's bible, which is why I think you can't go wrong with a photo frame.
