paint........lots of!!! bought a HUGE tub of magnolia emulsion from b&q today to start!!! though dd was gutted we didn't buy any pink for her room!!!! lol.......I promised her we would soon!! Probably after xmas though.

wardrobes and drawers....kids beds are scandanavian pine and for our room I like that beech effect stuff. Not sure where to go for them.......nearest Ikea is too far away SOB Probably be an argos/index job.

We got a decorating allowance in our first house- then again it did have pillar box red stairs and bright orange walls!!

oh hi skate!!!

right......I am going to see the house tomorrow morning at 10am!!! I CANT WAIT!!!!

Landlords being a bit of a pain in the arse though.....it all depends on his reference which he hasn't sent in yet!! AARGH....I rang him and he said it will be a good reference anyway....so I have decided to put in my notice anyway.....cheeky bugger wanted to put up a to ler sicn the other day before I had even put my notice in!!!

I'm a bit worried though cos when the girl downstairs moved out, she went before she said she would, and even though she had all the rent paid up he made her move back in....can he do this to me? I thought I would have a week or two to get the new place painted and carpetted etc before we move in properly......

I'm really excited but at the same time a bit apprehensive....don't know why. I have got a huge pad to write down curtain measurements etc in. I am also going to ask about the decorating vouchers. FIL is coming with me to help look after the kids and measure the windows with me. Oh I can't wait......wish I could move in today!!!!

Well I went to see the house with FIL this morning....

We dont need to carpet as much as we thought......which is good!

There is a good blue carpet in the bathroom which is fine as we want to paint the bathroom blue anyway. Bathroom suit is white and looks quite new. Very very bright yellow walls atm!!!

Lounge.....well you can see where pictures look as though they have been hanging for 20 years cos theres so fade etc there!! Green and beige stripy wallpaper.....eek!!!

The once white gloss is now very very yellow!! EVERYWHERE!! eek!!

What will be DDs room is so disappointing...... so so miniscule......we actually have to buy her a SMALLER bed.......and we will get that in it and thats it....literally!!! There is already a pink carpet in there though that is in reasonable condition...not like you will see much of it when you get the bed in anyway!! Ah well.....at least we will only need a small tin of pink paint!!!!

The kitchen is lovely apart from the lime green everywhere.... and roomy......will get all appliances and a table and chairs in...maybe even a dishwasher one day

The garden needs a bit of work but ok for now.....oh the joys of having a landscape gardener as a hubby!!!!

Our room....well that is HIDEOUS!!!! I'm sorry all you ladies who like it but there is green and yellow stripy wallpaper everywhere and swirly borders top and middle........EEWWWWWW!!!! I WANT LILAC!!!! no carpet either.

The toilet is separate to the bathroom and REEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAALLY long!!! will just get some end of roll lino for that though from b&q...especially as potty training now means a trip up the stairs instead of being all on one level like it is at the moment!!!

We can't get decorating vouchers either cos the housing officer said that even though its a yucky colour, its tidy......so we will have to go get another bucket of magnolia emulsion for anything we can't afford to paint. grrr.......ah well.

So thats that ladies!!! Lots of decorating needed!!!....not sure how we are going to afford that but still!!!!........one day hey?!

Told you Titania - you need to rope in Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen to give it a revamp! He'd do the whole place for you in..... erm ... green/yellow stripes with swirly borders. Hmm not maybe such a good idea after all.....

Decoration is only that, decoration. You can live with green and yellow swirls for a bit, until your lilac dream comes true! I know because we have lived with a disgusting chocolate brown bathroom for four and a half years. Really must change it soon! Shame about dd's bedroom though. You will have to get inventive with shelves and hanging things. Look forward to hearing more about it in time.

Titania - thats excellent news !! glad its not as bad as you'd thought.

Now in dd's bedroom we built a bed into the space under the window as her bedroom narrows in to allow our son's to widen (it makes sense to us). Anyway instead of going to buy a freestanding bed (Argos do shorty beds) why not just build a platform from the walls and then pop a mattress on top. I will take a photo of dd's (not tidy though and email you with it.
