I'm mulling over what to do with mine...

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 15/11/2007 22:21

Kept mine. Makes quite amusing reading !

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 15/11/2007 22:22

Mine are in the loft and I occasionally have a nose at them, if I see them. Hilarious reading! DH couldn't give a stuff about them tbh, he just kinda raises his eyes when he sees me reading them! I wouldn't get rid of them, just put them somewhere really safe.

Miaou · 15/11/2007 22:24

Kept mine but don't read them in case I'm tempted to get rid! My mum burnt all hers when she went to college and always regretted it.

PeachesMcLean · 15/11/2007 22:25

Oh god shred. Can't imagine why I'd want to read that nonsense now.

shimmy · 15/11/2007 22:25

read my teenage diary for the first time last month when we moved house. Wow -it really brought back that amazing time of excitement, all those feelings, all those boys I fancied, all those worries, new experiences,

so glad I hadn't binned it -life was really colourful then

the diary is now hidden deep in a cupboard again and I'll read it again when I'm 60.

southeastastra · 15/11/2007 22:27

i destroyed mine in 1993, but now i really wish i'd kept them

crossma · 15/11/2007 22:28

Kept them but I cringe at the thought of re-reading them.

NotGaggingForIt · 15/11/2007 22:29

Oh god....mine have really crap semi-pornographic drawings in them. I think I'll try and cut them out without 'spoiling' the rest. TBH I haven't looked at the diaries for years, they are just so, so cringe-worthy...

S1ur · 15/11/2007 22:31

I kept all mine, but they're sooo crap and cingey that I fully intend to burn them in cathartic manner. I think that would be good, closure so to speak. mmm actually though I've always thought that some stuff would be cool for grandkids to read in future... getting ahead of myself there I think!

RosaLuxMundi · 15/11/2007 22:33

They are in the loft, but I squirm at the thought of having to read them again. Still my biographer may find them useful.

S1ur · 15/11/2007 22:36

I like your ambition Rosa, see I think grandkids you think bigger

southeastastra · 15/11/2007 22:38

your biographer rosa?

bonkerz · 15/11/2007 22:39

ive got mine. They see the progression from innocent little 14 year old to slutyy 16 year old! Towards the end they are positively pornographic!!!

RosaLuxMundi · 15/11/2007 22:39

I'm planning to be famous when I grow up.

Pinkchampagne · 15/11/2007 22:40

I kept a diary for years when I was living at home, and I have recently rescued them from my parents house. They make interesting reading now!

mymatemarmite · 15/11/2007 22:42

PC, I am still waiting for your green tin evening!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pinkchampagne · 15/11/2007 22:44

Who are you, MMM?!

funnypeculiar · 15/11/2007 22:44

kept them - but no idea where they are now...

mollymawk · 15/11/2007 22:46

I am not at all surprised at how often the word "cringe" has appeared in this thread already! I kept mine, and yes I cringe too.

Beanthereandbackagain · 15/11/2007 22:51

diaries are for when you write them not after I think

mymatemarmite · 15/11/2007 22:52

PC, you know me too well! I work with you! (ps I have changed name!)

bea · 15/11/2007 22:54

i wrote in a diary from the age of 13 to about 21... still write on and off... it is horrendous reading... mainly due to the fact that it's full of film/tv star love... and me recounting films and telly that i've watched... in intricate detail... all those bits are just horrendous and boring...

i love finding the odd snippet where i actually do write about life and what's been goingon...they're all on the bookshelf in our bedroom... i should just pack them into a box and pop them up in the loft as they are taking up uneccessary space!!!

much as they are full of complete gibberish... i'll keep them...

very interesting where i note down the first time i saw dh and tracks my admiration and lurve for him... right upto where we got married and having dd....

quandry · 15/11/2007 22:55

Mine are seriously cringeworthy - I also had a 'chart' in the back where I 'rated' all boyfriends across 3 dimensions - one was looks, one was kissing, and I can't remember what the third was! (Not sex, as I was still sweet and innocent then!)

expatinscotland · 15/11/2007 22:57

i burned mine when i lived in a home with a fireplace.

it felt good.

Pinkchampagne · 15/11/2007 23:00

Thought it was you, but you threw me with the name change, so thought I had better make sure!
Lost green tin again, but will let you know when I find it!
