Does it mean that you were not able to walk places when older/too nervous? Or were there other bad effects from not walking on your own?

Oh yes.

I have not seen the other thread but I used to ge pulled regularly by the hair from the school to my front gate.

Where were my parents?

I do have a fear of going places alone but I hadn't thought about it being related to my youth.

CountessDracula · 14/11/2007 15:34

oh sorry

Yes usually the under-butler would drive us (if he had finished polishing the silver). Occasionally we rode on our palominos led by the head groom.

If Pater took us there was great excitement however (but we always arrived at school covered in dog hair of course from his scabby old Landy)

tenious phychology - or humour so dry i've missed it.

if the former - i was 12 - and am perfectly able to walk and think that the 70's wern't safer - even nostalgically.

PositivelyMellow · 14/11/2007 15:35

I was only around 6/7 though. I think I may ned to read the other thread.

I was fine by the time I walked to High School I only got beat-up twice

I have always been very cheeky though, so I most likely deserved it...one of them I did not deserve as she had stole my boyfriend too. bitch

LilRedWG · 14/11/2007 15:48

Walked to infant/junior as only round the corner, but got the bus to secondary.

expatinscotland · 14/11/2007 15:52

no.

i grew up in a place with almost no pavements and no public transport.

you have to drive literally everywhere, including school.

i am still alive and healthy with no ill effects.

i've been involved in sport since i was very young and have always been fit.

in fact, millions of people the world over do not walk on their own from an early age and have grown into sane, rational, well-functioning adults.
