Does anyone know of any organisation apart from the Citizens Advice Bureau which could advise a friend of mine who is in dispute with her ex-childminder? Many thanks.

What about the National Association of Childminders (or whatever they're called) ?

emmieswill - My friend has reported the matter to them and they are investigating it, but they say they cannot get involved in legal matters and the childminder is threatening legal action.

As a childminder of 16 years, Ofsted inspected etc, this is my advice - The childminder has to have a complaints policy and if the complaint is not resolved between clinet and childminder, then she has to demonstrate where the client can go for further advcie. I would suggest that your friend contact Ofsted who are responsible for registering childminders. If you want to email. I'll see if can help at all. my details are here

Alibubbles that's kind of you to offer your advice - I will take you up on it. Have just clicked on your link though and just get some technical blurb!

Fionn, I have just come back from the early years exhibition today and I picked up a leaflet on how to make a complaint about your childcare provision. I was right about it being Ofsted, but they do not become involved in dipsutes about fees or contractual arrangements. The number to call for Ofsted is 0845 601 4772 for other matters the people to try are the Children's information service on 0800 298 9121 or contact them by email: [email protected]

Sorry about my link, I did it in a hurry and didn't check, I can give an impartial view if you want, or to get some info, my email is [email protected] or my website is www.think-small.co.uk I don't mind giving my details out because I am easily found on a search engine enquiry for childminding and nannying, HTH
