hi,
so to cut a long story short dp had been bidding on a car on ebay, and was outbid. however he then got a second chance offer, which after messaging the ebayer he brought the car off him for £100 less than he offered it to us. so after we got home from collecting the car, i just clicked on the second chance offer and did the buy it now offer he sent us, all in the hope of getting some feedback. however the ebayer just rang dp to complain i had clicked the buy it now and followed through with the transaction and that it had cost him another £23 as i had done this. i dont know if this is right or not? so to keep this bloke happy dp has gone round and paid him the extra £23 and we've ended up arguing about it. do ebay really charge you twice if the first person backsout and then you offer it to the next person??

please help me work this out, and sorry its a long post ..

Well, I'm not sure. But he'd have certainly paid more fees if he gave it you £100 less but you did the buy it now for the higher price. Maybe he was also hoping to say the deal hadnt gone through, or withdraw it from sale, and pay no fees? or have I misundersttod what you wrote?

With second chance offer, you don't pay the fees for the first person. In the same way that is something doesn't sell and you relist, you only pay one lot of listing fees if it sells again.

I think that what you did though is technically buy the item off ebay, which is not recommended.

Am confused by what the guy says though...
