I have looked at a couple but can't seem to find out.

I kow Asda and Sainsburys accept them in store but i don't think they do online.

Really really need to go shopping but donot want to take all the kids and i can only use dp's card online as mine is useless at the mo due to lack of funds

Iceland?

I'm sure I've used my electron card for Tesco on-line stuff. It doesn't actually list the word "electron" under the payment options, just "visa". Try that.

Iceland forgot about them, i'll try.

Sandyballs - Tesco actually listed the cards they accept and then stated that they don't acept electron. They then went on to suggest upgrading the crad to one they accept.

Does anyone know what the critera is for upgrading to say a visa debit card ?? I have one and i was just offered it whilst in the bank one day. Dp has a crappy credit record but as he wouldn't actually be applying for credit, would that matter ??
He banks with the woolich and does have an overdraft so it does seem odd that they have never offered to upgrade his card.

you could ask you dp to upate his card in branch or try over the phone. i have a crappy credit history, but have a visa debit card. i was very firm and told them it was DEBIT i wanted and not CREDIT. lol.

We have always done online shopping with Tescos until today when they said they cant take our card as it has changed over to electron. I spoke to our bank and they said this is because you need to be their to sign it.
We are going to transfer shopping money into another account in order to do shopping now.
Thankfully our bank did say we can apply after xmas for upgraded account.

dh needs to ask for a visa debit card from his bank. probably quicker to go to his bank's branch (or phone up) and they should be able to tell him there and then if he is 'allowed' to have one. The system on the computer should indicate if his account is elligible for such a card. the worst that can happen, if the credit on his account is poor, they will tell him to try again in x months time as the system updates regularly according to the activity on the account.
otherwise, I don't think there is any online grocery service accepting electron cards at the moment.
alternatively, if you/him have a credit card (like mastercard) you could use that for the food shop over the internet and pay it off straightaway at the bank to avoid incurring interest.

Anyone know of any gift shops on the net that take it. I am desperate to send a present now, it is so frustrating finding something you want, having the money and then being told it doesn't except your card. I had the perfect gift from the white company, then found another one from just beautiful things and it went on. Any ideas?

fairyfly · 16/11/2004 17:50
