an infestation of FLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help please

Please please please someone help.

On Sunday night we suddenly started getting lots of big black flies appearing in our kitchen. It's late Oct for goodness sake and thought they died or something in the winter. They seemed to be coming from under a plinth so we took it out expecting a dead mouse or something.

But there is nothing under there.

We sprayed copious amounts of fly killer and vaccummed the little feckers up. Been out for the day just got back and now there are another 30/40 dead or dying all over the kitchen. Still can not see where they are coming from.

Any ideas please????

Sounds like you've got cluster flies. Unfortunately, they're quite tricky to get rid of but you might like to try something likethis or if you can see where they're coming in just try hoovering them up.

Are they big blue bottle ones? We had this when we moved into brand new house last year. I came home to, quite literally, hundreds of them in the sitting room every day. I had to get the vax out to hoover them up every day.

Turned out we had two dead birds in the chimney. Had no problems since getting a wire cage fitted over the chimney pot to stop birds falling in.

The loft insulation is covered in little black bodies though.

That info seems to make lots of sense. They are quite dozy and it explains why I'd suddenly have a fly problem in the autumn. Still cannot find where they are coming from though will keep vacuuming them up and might track down some of those products to get rid once and for all.

They aren't blue bottles they are black and quite big. Starting to make my skin crawl cos they're in the kitchen (food prep surfaces etc)

I expected to be able to find a dead thing somewhere or some rotting food maybe but there really isn't anything.

Do you think it's worth getting apest control company in?
