Moving to Suffolk - where to buy?

Hi all,
We were meant to relocate from Essex to Suffolk last year, but due to Covid and my husbands business, it just wasn’t on the cards.
We are now looking at getting our house on the market at the end of the year and moving as soon as we sell.

We have based the area we move to on chosen schools, so it’s a half hour radius from either Great Finborough or Southwold.
Would like to nearest city/large town to have a fair amount to do, feel safe and just a nice place to visit/shop/run errands etc.

We’d like a rural property or just outside a village.
There are many areas that seem nice to us, but I know from local areas where I live that it isn’t always the case so I’d love some local recommendations.

Ideally we would like a period property with a very large garden/some land.

Thank you in advance

You should post your budget. You say you want some land, but without budget how can people make suggestions ?

Sorry I just didn’t really know if that was the done thing to post budget....
Looking at what has sold and is currently for sale, we have enough in our budget to buy what we’d be looking for in both areas.
Not planning to look in Southwold, but that is where one of the schools are, so mentioned it due to the half hour distance - as I know it’s very highly priced and we wouldn’t find large home with land etc.

If you post your budget, people that live in that area will be able to suggest areas that fit your criteria. Obvs if you have £150,000 or £1,150,000 those areas / choices will be vastly different.

I just wanted to know the nicest places to live and where to avoid really. Looking for area advice.
We have a substantial budget as we live in a commuter town and will be able to afford the type of property we are after in the areas we are looking at, bar in Southwold as it’s not the kind place for those properties

I hope someone will come along with suggestions for you.
