is it supposed to be nice, trashy, old fashioned or what???

I know they're not the cheapest in the world but I'm feeling extravagant given the tax man's nice little cheque I got this week so want something a little nicer than a Travel Lodge.......but I don't want to be wasting my money.

Well it's ranked 74th out of 111 on Tripadvisor...there are several hotels on that road none of which have a terribly good rep AFAIK. Overpriced because they're in Clifton. If you really want to be in Clifton maybe consider the Avon Gorge hotel which does at least have a spectacular location, or the Best Western in Victoria Square; if you don't mind being out of town I could make some other suggestions. Not much in the city centre in that price range.

There are no good hotels in Clifton! The Berkeley Square hotel is the best of a bad bunch

I would rather stay in a Trvel Lodge than most of the Clifton hotels.

Agree, not Clifton hotels, they're dire.
Hotel Du vin, esp if you get a weekend rate, it's cheaper than in the week. there was a Bristol hotel thread recently wasn't there, hang on

Oh if the Westbourne is the one I'm thinking of no, don't go.

recent thread about Bristol hotels

thanks for the responses - they were really slow getting back to me - and at £110 for the night were no competition for the Novotel late deal I got of £78

(PS didn't really particularly want Clifton it was just one of the ones that had a family room LOL).

my friend and i stayed at the mercure bristol, its down on the water and v short walk into town. it was lovely. i think it cost £60 for the both of us inc breakfast (was on one of those last minute cheap internet site things). think its normally double that!

TheQueenOfQuotes · 25/10/2007 12:58

we shan't be walking into town either - we're going to see my lovely Granddad in the south of Bristol
