dh has incapcity benefit and in january is due for another medical assessement by the DWP. What with the govt attempts to stop people claiming IB for things like depression, back pain etc, it had us wiorried, but then thought that as DH has a serious condition and cant even climb a single set of stairs without feeling some pain/discomfort he should be ok. Have just read on the DCM board i use that one man has been decalred fit to work even tho he is seriously ill. I'm fuming, why target people who are seriously ill? If this happens to dh i know it will mean another fight to get what he is entitled to. if that fails then after baby is born I'll be looking for a job. but then will have to sort out childcare as dh isnt well enought to be full time parent on his own.

Misdee, as you know DH was on IB, but they decided he was fit to work, your hubby could become DD2's carer (as my DH just has become) so his National insurance stamp gets paid, and claim Income support, you will be about £20-30 a week worse off, but as your DH CAN'T work and you can't work because of the kids, its a way around it.

Just for the record, DH was declared fit to work but his doctor is refusing to sign him back to work until he has his knee sorted out.

i know. but its then putting pressure on him to go back to work. am just shocked that the seriously ill and people actually unable to work have been targetted by this new govt thing to get people off IB.

but as a carer he can't work, the govt know that

at least we have a back up plan then!!

but feel so sorry for this other man who is now appealing against the medics report. this bloke can barely walk 200 metres.
