Party venue in Croydon/east Surrey/south London/west Kent

I'm looking for a venue for a drinks party to celebrate my son's first birthday. It's for about 75-100 people, buffet style, for a weekend afternoon in early December.

Although there would be children present, the party is really for the adults, so nothing special (party-wise) is required for the children.

I'm having trouble finding a venue. A lot of the nicer bars don't have licences for children; the hotels have extortionate hire and buffet costs; the golf clubs are all full; the village and community halls aren't quite classy enough....

Anyone any good ideas?
