HELP!!! Clothes overtaking the house

I am a very messy person but recently have managed to really improve as far as tidiness of "stuff" goes and manage to keep on top of things - I have even started menu planning!

The thing that still gets me every time is clothes.

For example

Right now I have a load in the dryer ready to fold, a load of wet washing infront of the dryer ready to put in, dirty stuff in the washer ready to wash, 3 piles at the bottom of the stairs ready to take up and put away, a bedroom FULL of a mix of dirty and clean clothes - very little hung up in wardrobes or drawers.

DS's clothes are fine - I have them organised. Ditto with DD although hers are a bit messy too. DP deals with most of his own so he takes from the piles and puts away. Mine are just horrendous, I leave stuff where I take them off, dump piles of clean clothes and dont put them away and I just never ever get on top of the washing.

Does anyone have any tips? Systems?

Where do I start from the mess Im in now!?

Honestly, if you removed the clothes from my house it would be perfect!

One thing to note - we dont have much hanging storage for our clothes, DPs are already taking up about 80% of space available - I have some drawers but they are a bit knackered (cheap Ikea ones that are past their best) so dont really have that much space to actually sort them.

Help MUCH appreciate

Oh.....sorry for the boring topic on a saturday night!

Two tips I was given -

do the ironing as soon as you take the clothes off the line (I've never managed this one)

hang the clothes up / put them away as soon as they come out of the tumble drier (cuts out the ironing stage for most clothes). I've managed this one quite well.

What is this 'ironing' of which you speak?!

I try to keep on top of the washing and Ironing and usually I'm quite good but at the moment I seem to have lost the plot.

My granny was in my house tonight and she saw my washing basket and said "shouldn't you think about doing some washing?" Gggrrr

Seeing as the weather is so awful just now and we don't have a tumble dryer I have to hang everything inside, I have 2 clothes horses but even so I still have stuff hanging on every radiator,2 loads worth, plus a wash in the washing machine waiting to be washed tomorrow when the other stuff is dry so I can Iron it put it away and then have space to hang up the new wash. And after that wash is done I still have another 2 loads in the basket waiting to be done, aarrgghhh.

What I would give for a house with a utility room where I could have it all in once place rather than spread all over the house.

Oh and my bedroom floor is also covered in clothes, which I'm going to have to sort out tomorrow. I also ahve a wardrobe full of clothes that I haven't worn in years, but keep thinking I might wear that so I'll hang onto it, Why? I never do I'm just lazy I think.

Please can we stop this thread as it is reminding me that I should be doing the ironing.
