Returned order lost by Collect + and I've lost the receipt

In September I made a return via collect plus to Very - the value of returns was over £300. I stupidly lost the receipt and I just realised that Very have not received my return. I've been in contact with them, but they haven't responded yet. Do I have a leg to stand on? I am so worried and cross with myself for not taking better care of the receipt. Any advice very gratefully received.

Was it one of their returns labels? If so did you download it to print off (you might still have a copy on your computer to see the tracking number). If you can find out the tracking number on the parcel, this may show that they have received it after all and just haven't refunded.
If you know the exact date & time you returned the parcel, it might get worth asking the shop if they can access their records and see if they have proof of a parcel being returned.
