books about music for 8 year old?

The primary school our dc attend does not teach music (other than learning hymns for assembly ) and I would like to / need to do a bit at home with them.

Dd1 has piano lessons outside school so that's at least something, but what else can I do? I was also wondering whether there are any good books for children on music - any aspect of it really.

I had the very fab 'The Story of Music in Cartoon' as a child, but it's out of print (and my copy is in German, dd1 doesn't find it as easy to read as English), and also various vinyls about classical music, aimed at children. I don't know where to find that kind of stuff nowadays - could anyone point me in the right direction please?

www.acblack.com/musicexpress/
This is what a lot of primary schools use if you're interested. It's quite good and can be taught by a non-specialist. Contains CD/DVD.

There's a different book for each year group, so depending on how many children you have it could be quite expensive! Amazon seem to sell them for about £17 each, rrp is £25.
