Dp could be Napoleon Dynamite from the film - he'd just need to wear geeky clothes and say "GAWD" a lot - or a Proclaimer (not saying DP is geeky or having a pop cos he's ginger I'm just thinking of flame haired characters).
DD could be Hermione?
You could go as a hippy chick, Meg White from the White Stripes (just need to wear red, white & black), Pippi Longstocking?
Or you could all go as 3 quarters of Abba?

Ah now doesn't have to be lycra. You could try wearing red t-shirt and jeans and just copy the logo and attach to your chest

We used to put on a fancy dress New Years Eve party every year at our pub. We were never that organised though! Usually we were so busy in the run up to Christmas that we would forget about our own costumes and end up making a last-minute desperate dash to the costume hire shop for whatever they had left/fitted!
I did end up with a fantastic 20s style flapper dress once which makes me think your dh could be a gangster and you and dd a couple of 'molls'. Then just pick a gangster film, Chicago maybe or if you want it to be more family-friendly, Bugsy Malone.

dd could be hermione and you could be tonks, professor mcgonagall or mrs dursley.

i'm sure there are other combinations that could work but they are the first ones that come to mind.

Go as Tube stations - my (girl) friends and I wore Khaki trousers and singlets and went as All Saints - My DH and his pal wore bowler hats,suits and furled umbrellas - BANK- and the best was a couple who came as Barbie and Ken - Barbican .. and tht's not even to mention the amount of Paddingtons on parade !!
