My step MIL has had a candy washing machine for about 6/7 years as far as I know theres been no trouble with it

Mercy · 03/10/2007 11:07

I'd go for the Hotpoint

Candy lost its way some time ago.

Mercy · 03/10/2007 11:07

I knew that would happen

kitsandbits · 03/10/2007 11:08

Arggh conflicting advie! lol

what do you think of this one?

or worth paying an extra £40 for this?

Isn't that odd, 2 completely differing opinions! You see I personally wouldn't choose Hotpoint because both my mum and MIL (the other 1) have had huge problems in teh past

Mercy · 03/10/2007 11:11

2nd one has a faster spin cycle and takes a heavier load - worht an extra £40 imo.

kitsandbits · 03/10/2007 11:12

yea, think ill go with the posh hotpoint one, lol

thanks x

Have a look at review of Candy scroll down a bit

suedonim · 03/10/2007 11:30

Noooo, don't get Candy!!! We have a kitchen full of their appliances in the apartment we rent here and it's awful stuff. I've vowed never, ever to spend my own money on anything made by Candy.

Aero · 03/10/2007 11:35

We have a Candy dishwasher which came with our new kitchen. No problems so far and I was very reluctant to remove my reliable old bosch, but it was too tatty looking to keep. Having said that, it's still in the shed, just in case! lol

kitsandbits · 03/10/2007 11:37

Right thats a few 'dont get candys'

and reviews seem a bit poor.

Hotpoint do sound more reliable -

Im just waiting for the lady to ring me, 100% on the posh hotpoint now

thankyou x

Hang on, I think Candy make Hotpoint or vice versa.

My appliances man said stick to zanussi and bosch if you can...

Washersaurus · 03/10/2007 11:48

It is 'Hoover Candy' now. I have an expensive Hoover and am on my 2nd replacement machine in 6 months, which is currently broken...AGAIN!

Their service is less than brilliant.

oatcake · 03/10/2007 11:50

ah, thought it was something like that. I was told to avoid hoovers now... Probably because of the Candy link...

oatcake · 03/10/2007 11:51

btw, I've got a zanussi tumble drier which is only now, after 6 years, requiring the attention of my appliance man.

I've also got a zanussi washer which is 8 months old so can't comment yet on its longevity...

[can't afford bosch...!]

Washersaurus · 03/10/2007 11:56

No unfortunately we couldn't afford a bosch one when we needed to replace our old washer/drier.... I've got big bloody piles of washing everywhere again until the man comes back with the replacement part on Friday

EmilyDavidson · 03/10/2007 11:59

Just wanted to say I have one of those new hotpoints and its great , three years old ,gets thrashed constantly and never had a problem with it. Gets things clean properly too.

Washersaurus · 03/10/2007 12:01

Grrr Emily! Mine is fab when it works admittedly

Washersaurus · 03/10/2007 12:02

Ooops got confused with hoover/hotpoint ....so i should have purchased one of those!

saltire · 03/10/2007 12:09

I think Candy do own Hoover.
I had a Hoover vacum cleaner that was a wedding present. it broke down on the day of my 10th anniversary - litterally fell to pieces, but previous to that I'd never ahd a thing wrong with it.

kitsandbits · 03/10/2007 12:44

ended upgetting this one

as all the others had waits between 10 days & 4 weeks! and a month without a washer is enough never mind another 4 week wait!!

Being deliverd monday

I was told by a friend of mine who fixes machines and whatnots that hotpoint, candy and indesit too, I think were all the same company now. I had a Zanussi washing machine and it kept going for over 10 years. The only reason I replaced it was because by the time I'd got it repaired it was only £100 more to get a new one.... and got a Bosch. My Zanussi dishwashers been going for nearly 10 years now and to be honest I want it to die so I can get a new one.... but it's still going strong....

JossStick · 03/10/2007 13:30

My eight year old Candy washing machine is still going strong

....................waits for inevitable 'bang!...........SPLOSH' from utility room.....................

kitsandbits · 03/10/2007 15:38

LOL! Its done and ordered now so fingers crossed it lasts more than 6 weeks this time!

and as anopther piece of useless information, Zanussi is owned by Electrolux who also own AEG
