Do you tell your friends about Mumsnet?

I have just told my friend about Mumsnet, welcome by the way if you are new to Mumsnet! I now am thinking that I will change my name, because some stuff is really personal and because she may feel that she wants annonimity on her problems. Does anyone think this is being a chicken or would you do it? By the way, if I do go I'll be back, with a new name. Thanks Mnr's.

I've told several people, and now they all think I'm a total saddo.

don't think any of them post. They may have worked out who I am, but equally they may not actually care that much

It doesn't bother me, although if I want to slag off dp, I change my name. No, scratch that - if I were to slag off dp I would change my name. Just because some of the people I've told are his friends and it wouldn't be fair.

Sometimes I just lie and say things like "a friend I saw the other day said..."

I mention mn quite often to one of my male (gay) colleagues. I was telling him this morning about the 'whats the most embarrassing thing you've done' thread which gave us both a laugh . I haven't added to that thread yet as I'm still trying to narrow it down . tbh and I know it's a bit selfish but I try not to mention it too much to other friends as I quite like it just for me.

SoupDragon · 14/10/2004 20:41

Goodness no.

But then again, I have no friends.

lou33 · 14/10/2004 20:50

Spacemonkey and I know dg and all her secrets

WideWebWitch · 14/10/2004 20:53

Coddy, I am a Bristol resident with a friend in Salisbury but I don't think it's me is it? I don't know anyone you know, to my knowledge. Oooh, or do I? If so I have NO recollection of any conversation. I'm either going mad or you're talking about someone else!

DelGirl · 14/10/2004 20:54

I thought i'd paid you enough to keep schtum Lou. I can't afford any more so will have to pay you in brownies.

sunchowder · 14/10/2004 20:57

OK, every person I meet here who has a British accent is always asked by me if they are a Mumsnetter!!! I have NEVER gotten a yes answer, but I have been looked at as if I had three heads. I hae told a few friends here, but they all think it is strange and have no desire to become a member. It doesn't make me feel bad though....I love it here!

lou33 · 14/10/2004 20:58

are they as good as the wongster's own?

DelGirl · 14/10/2004 21:00

I don't know as i've not made them yet but i'm sure they would be as good if not be.......

duster · 14/10/2004 21:00

The only person in my life who knows about mumsnet is ds3, who is 9 weeks old and the soul of discretion. I trust him implicitly.

codswallop · 14/10/2004 21:54

WideWebWitch · 14/10/2004 22:00

Yes, my friend lives in town and it's an old house. I didn't think it was me but it just seemed a weird coincidence. Don't know anyone else in Salisbury any more.
