strange question i know. ds1 & ds2 have a friend who live nearby in a very old farmhouse type house,im pretty sure they've got a sceptic tank. mum lives on her own with not much help or money i think. we went round there in summer to a party and i noticed AN AWFUL LOT OF BLUEBOTTLES..they were everywhere. they've got a massive garden, its a great place to live. but when i was walking around the garden, i noticed splodges of what looked like sewege on the grass, the smell was very distinctive, not like dog poo, i was pretty sure it was sewage. last night ds2 said that it stunk of "wee" over there, i replied that maybe it was some wild flowers growing (honeysuckle?) what do you all think? don't feel like i can mention it to the mum as i don't know her that well .

I suppose they would leak if they got too full - certainly a friend of mine had a leak in hers and had sewage coming up through the grass - not nice and also a serious health hazard.

well... it gets full, then it overflows.

Sounds like this may have happened, but I agree, you can't really interfere.

You could, however, maybe make up a story about thinking about moving house to a house with a septic tank, and ask if theirs has one, how often it needs emptying, how much it costs, and what are the symptoms of it being full....

It may make them think about their own
