DD needs to find out for homework about various creatures including herbivore/carnivore - can't work out what a leech is though - can anyone help?

They're invertebrates is this what you mean?

Jimjams · 10/10/2004 21:44

They're carnivore.

clairabelle · 10/10/2004 21:44

Sorry didn't read all of the question yep carnivore.

edam · 10/10/2004 21:45

Nearest encyclopedia I could grab just says adquatic worm, most are bloodsuckers. This could be a trick question ? I don't think it's either, frankly ? but if not, I'd go for carnivore as it feeds from other animals, not plants.

I think they do eat other animals as well worms etc.

clairabelle · 10/10/2004 21:49

LOL sobernow, now this is the sort of stuff MN should really be about

Toothache · 10/10/2004 21:49

The Simpsons...

.... sorry, couldn't resist, wasn't clever I know.

They are related to worms in a way. The family they belong to are Annelids. Different from the earthworm coz the have a mouth at both ends!

coppertop · 10/10/2004 21:49

LOL at sobernow!

Jimjams · 10/10/2004 21:49

It's a parasite if you want to be really clever!

pesme · 10/10/2004 21:49

I didn't think carnivore was a family as such ..more of an eating pattern

I would've thought that a leech was a parasite

Amfs · 10/10/2004 22:05

I haven't read any of the other replies so sorry if I repeated others (or even if I'm completely wrong)

Don't be unpleasent Sobernow. You are being quite unfair to a group that performs a vital function and can't answer back.

Leeches are excellent at getting rid of haematomas.......thus they have a use.......

Toothache · 10/10/2004 22:08

lol Sobernow! Didn't see that further down.

Parasites
Carnivores
Mouths at both ends...

Yup, I'm agreeing with you completely....
