Hi everyone,
I had my only DS when I was 17 and living in my hometown of Manchester. When he was 18 months old things ended very messily with his Dad, and to cut a long story short 6 months later me and my DS ended up moving down south to Essex for a fresh start (I have family who moved down here years ago who helped us get set-up).
Fast forward nearly 6 years and we are still here and very much settled in life - we live in a nice apartment owned by my uncle, him and my aunt live nearby and are amazing with babysitting, DS loves his school and boxing and has loads of friends, I have a well paid job (in comparison to what I would be able to get back home) in London that I enjoy, I’ve made friends and generally just enjoy the lifestyle down here.
BUT, my entire extended family and lots of childhood friends (other than my uncle, aunt and one cousin down here) all still live back at home and I really miss living in close proximity to them all!
The situation with my sons Dad has blown over enough now that I’d be happy to go back and I would love my DS to be able to spend more time with his many cousins and friends DC’s etc. Especially as he is an only child...
There are obviously pros and cons for both staying here and going back home. WWYD?
