i help out at a youth club which my husband runs, and the girls have nowt to do except go on the dance mat, some of them play pool but not many - i asked then what they would like and they said to do some craft type stuff - not exclusivley girls ofcourse but something to keep their interest.

so - i am no crafty type person believe me. as halloween is comming up i was thinking something like a night scene - u know where thye cut out the skyline in black and stick onto blue paper then make the windows out of yellow paper. or wiches hats are easy.

thing is - the youth club has not a lot of money to spend and i know mumsnetters are fab at this kind of thing

any ideas welcome

thank you

Have a look at the Baker Ross site.

Papier mache pumpkins and the stick faces on them? Takes more than one session because it has to dry.

Paper mache masks - put gooey wet stuff on balloons, wait to dry and then paint and cut out eyes etc????

You could make a ghost and bat mobile.

You need two long strips of strong card coloured black. Corrugated cardboard from old boxes is fine. Arrange them in a cross with glue or sellotape. You now need to make two ghosts and two bats to hang on the mobile

The ghosts are the very cheapest white cups that you get in office water coolers. Turn upside down. Drape a mansize tissue over the cup, thread some ordinary black sewing thread through the bottom of the cup to tie onto the cardboard cross and use black felt pen to draw on a scary ghost face.

The bats are simply a bat shape cut out of black paper. The clever bit is that you must use three threads to get the bat to hang correctly.....one at the end of each wing and one in the middle.

If the mobile is hung above a radiator the rising heat makes the bat wings flap and the tissues on the ghosts flutter.

How about pom-pom spiders? All you need is 2 rings of cardboard & some black wool to make the pom -poms & black pipecleaners or wool to make the legs.Stick on 2 white bits of cardboard for eyes & there you go.

I'll see if I can think of anything else.

for halloween you could try gettng hold of some slices of logs, orange and black paint and some leaves or raffia or feathers or soemthing. You paint both sides of the slices of wood orange, let it dry tehn paint a scary face onit and for "hair" you use the other stuff using a glue gun. halloween pumpkins that don't rot!!

They have boxes of 12 masks to make in asda. You need to buy glue to go with them though. Think they're £3ish?
