The only person I know that has done it is Jmb. I wish I could cut it down to say once or twice a week but can't. Sad or what. Dh just came in and said get a life!!!!!
It is funny in my house though as we have a queue for the computer. me for mumsnet, dh for the fulham website, ds for minclips and dd loves nick jr or cbeebies. It is so funny as if one of the kids need the toilet they will hold it incase one of us takes there seat.
I din't realise when I bought this in February how much it would take over. The main reason we bought it was to help ds with his homework and SATS!!!!!!

read the thread on disgusting things you would do for your children - enough to put an anyone off - although I am still here so maybe not

You tell yourself that you are missing something really important on television...Like Patrick Stewart in Star Trek...works everytime for me!

Miriam2 · 07/10/2004 13:34

Don't switch computer on! No really. Not an option for those using them for work obviously. I was getting in from school run, logging on, cup of coffee in hand and before you know it it's nearly lunchtime and you've got RSI!! So now I DON'T put it on till coffee break time that way at least some jobs get done on my days off.

Lonelymum · 07/10/2004 13:37

Tell yourself you can only go on the computer once all the housework is done. Or only between certain hours of the day. I agree witht the poster who said just don't switch the computer on. That is what I do if I want to stay off Mumsnet.

Simply find yourself something else to do!

Posting on contentious threads might work! I've been trying not to post too much because I've been on a couple and I think I've offended people - don't really mean too but I struggle to not say what I really think so sometimes I just let it all out and press 'post' without thinking.

So, yes, not posting cuts down your time.
Also, don't log on even if you've got the computer on. I'm quite busy with work atm so this morning once kids were down for nap, I went straight into my work folder and got on with cos if I'd even logged on to MN for a quick peak, I'd have spent the whole 2 hours on it.

Jennisaurus · 07/10/2004 15:45

I post less than I used to, I suddenly got very busy and could not justify all the time I was spending on MN.

So thats not really a method I know, it just happened that way. I miss posting here and knowing everyone, now I feel like an outsider, so I say don't wean yourself off
