I moved into a new build a couple of months before Xmas and spent most of December on the phone to various delivery companies arguing with them about the existence of my house.

Fatted. That is a good one. When they can’t find your new build or postcode on system. Lol xx

have you seen this thread where Hermes muddled up two packages and delivered a load of toilet paper instead of a pram?

IfYoureNotIntoYoga · 01/03/2020 06:10

I think it depends on the individual driver to be honest!

Our Hermes driver is fantastic and I live quite rurally. I think is the driver and his wife usually delivering together and they are great.

The problem with Hermes is that you just cannot talk to a human, so if there is a problem there is no way of sorting it out.

My DH recently spent 3 hours waiting in the pissing rain in the street outside his workplace because the postcode for something he'd ordered had accidentally defaulted to there, but it was closed. No way could he talk to someone to have the delivery address changed.

Like @Fatted I moved into a new build home and ordered a mattress. Hermes spent 4 days updating arguing the existence of my home and then sending my mails to say my item was too large it needed a special “team” to load and off load. Eventually decided I would cancel the order and just walk into store and buy one locally...That was all done and dusted. Local mattress store deliverd within 24 hours. Surprisingly while I’m waiting for my refund, a week later Hermes dump the mattress I had cancelled on my patio Angry

I had a small flurry of missing amazon parcels before Christmas, all with cards through the door saying they were in the porch. I got amazon to replace them, and then on Christmas Eve while getting the house ready for Christmas visitors we swept a pile of leaves in the porch to find a bunch of soggy, buried amazon parcels Hmm

Several years ago I ordered a couple of expensive sports bras. I had a card put through my door to say they had been left in a 'save place'. Hunted outside (not a big job as there is no front garden just a couple of plant pots) but nothing. Phoned up the company and told them they must have been stolen so they kindly re sent them. 1 year later the gas man found a parcel stored away in the gas meter box outside on the wall of the house!! It still baffles me that the delivery person thought to put them in there!

I once got a card to say my parcel had been left in the blue bin at the front of my house. However the blue bin had been emptied that day along with my parcel 🤨

Hermes delivered a card through my door instructing me to collect a parcel from a shop 3 miles away. When I got to the shop, we couldn’t locate any parcel for me, even though it had been ‘signed for’ by the staff.

The staff allowed me to rummage through the parcels, where I found one addressed to somebody with a similar sounding address. Not really similar, just with the last syllable of the name of the road. The reference number matched the card through the door.

Staff at the shop allowed me to take the parcel, as I thought I might as well save the recipient a journey. They were of course really grateful, however I was really pissed off at going out at night to collect a parcel for a stranger 🙄

Not a courier but I sent something with Royal Mail’s Signed For service recently. It was clearly addressed on the front adjacent to the postage and signed for labels. On the back I wrote ‘sender’ and my address in small writing in a corner.
It was delivered the following day but unfortunately it was delivered to me rather than to the intended recipient and was just posted through my letterbox without a signature. If I track it online it’s still showing as being in their system.

lol what fantastic and disastrous stories !! Love the finding parcels months or years later lmao. And Madison Avenue that is brilliant. They sent you your own mail by mistake !!!! Xxxxx
