DH is telling me I'm absolutely mad but I've started to make my 'what I'm buying people' lists - hopefully so I can spread the cost a little - so please reassure me that I haven't totally lost it and I'm not the only one

Tortington · 03/09/2007 19:52

I am doing some of mine tonight through the "studio" catalogue. I cannot cope with christmas shopping in the shops its just too harassing!

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 03/09/2007 19:55

i start mine in the next fortnight. dd2 birthday was at the weekend, generally once thats over i start with the xmas shopping. am usually done by end of november

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 03/09/2007 19:57

About to order the turkey tomorrow.

Bought 18 bottles of wine, in JS's wine sale. They will go into the garage.

Do your children like going to "see" Santa. My two boys are really scared of going in the grotto. Is that normal? They are 2 and 3.

pooka · 03/09/2007 19:59

pmsl. No bloody way!

UCM · 03/09/2007 19:59

Yes, definitely, DS already has a small cache of stocking fillers. The only thing I have to remember is a) where I hide them b) I don't duplicate.

And they were bought this week btw.

Oooooooooooo Christmas cake thread, it needs doing

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 03/09/2007 20:00

Oh yes and bought two gifts this week.

pooka · 03/09/2007 20:00

I am seriously putting my fingersw in my ears and shouting "lalalalalalalalalalalalala".

It's SEPTEMBER! AAaaaaaaerrrrrrggghhh.

luckylady74 · 03/09/2007 20:06

anyone got any good ideas for £5 presents for adults - we made that our limit last year, but i don't think anyone was bowled over by their candles or diaries!

UCM · 03/09/2007 20:09

Lidls were doing 4 inch remote control speedboats this week. Always good for a bloke in the bath who has everything I say.

UCM · 03/09/2007 20:09

they are 3.99

francagoestohollywood · 03/09/2007 20:14

lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala!
I usually do the shopping two weeks before christmas [disorganised emoticon]

mumclaire · 03/09/2007 20:26

Brill - I feel loved
and apologies to those who are offended by this thread
Back to those lists - I like the £5 idea but I always feel bad when people buy us more expensive stuff - how do you get round this....

luckylady74 · 03/09/2007 21:56

UCM i'm going to Lidls - that sounds fab!

luckylady74 · 03/09/2007 22:00

mumclaire - it was a mutual agreement with our extended family, but they got all creative - or in the case of bil illegal by copying cds! i plan to make fudge and so on, but then never do.

UCM · 03/09/2007 23:03

Luckylady, you have to be quick. Link here to the latest special offers. They seem to do something and don't do it again for another year.

onlyjoking9329 · 03/09/2007 23:09

Nooooo, tell me it's not christmas anytime soon.
it's on the same date every year but it still catches me out.

handlemecarefully · 03/09/2007 23:10

fingers in ears...not listening, not listening ....argghhhhh!

expatinscotland · 03/09/2007 23:18

Am nearly there! Just DD2 and DH - I know what I'm getting him, just need to pick it up.

AbbyLou · 04/09/2007 09:36

Ds birthday is 19th December so this I was determined to do it a little earlier to try and spread the cost. I have bought one thing for dd although she's a bit tricky as it will be her 1st Christmas at 7 months old. I've bought ds birthday presents bar a few little bits and bobs and I think most of his Christmas stuff is done too. I have only got a fw stocking fillers so far but add to them whenever I can.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 04/09/2007 19:22

I ordered my turkey today.

PersonalClown · 04/09/2007 19:24

I've started buying presents!
I buy a little each month to spread the cost.
