Long story, but: WE HAVE NO WATER COMING INTO THE HOUSE (had to turn it off at the stopcock).

It's now Saturday morning, there's a bucket full of terries needing washing, a dishwasher full of dirty plates and I need to wash my hair urgently.

Does anyone know of a decent plumber local to Islington, before I have to go through the Yellow Pages and phone Dyno-ripoff?

Google Stephen Cole -- try "Stephen Cole Holden Matthews"

He's a general handyman, but did fit our shower. He's a good guy, although he does tend to bang things around a bit (not a lot of finesse and leaves things kind of messy). Things do get fixed, though, and he's reasonable plus he's a nice guy.

Go through the institute of plumbers website as they are all qualified. Its what we had to do on Thursday to sort out our leak. I was very nervous but he seems to have done a good job thak heavens. Now we are waiting ofr his report to see if we can claim it on the insurance.
Will your problem be covered by your household insurance as they sometimes supply the plumbers themselves?
Alternatively is there a plumbers merchant near you that sells parts as they sometin=mes will recommend a plumber - who will probably be good as they don't want to loose custom
