I'm 40 next week and I have no idea at all what I want of my birthday - any ideas please?

It's not that I'm the woman who has everything but absolutely nothing springs to mind. Boyfriend keeps saying that he's not picking up any hints and that's because I've not given any! Help. Don't want to resort to the usual mix of cd's, books, jewellery etc. Would like something a bit more significant. Don't fancy days at spas or anything like that, just a solid present.

Thank you

I've told him to a good long slow read of this thread later

Rhubarb - update us on your thread what you're up to. Job? Money?

Hi Tinker, how would you like a long overdue, slightly wobbly video with documentaries about Kirsty McColl? I've just sent it off (mad week - sorry for the delay). Hope you have a fantastic birthday. Which day is it?

Fabulous and fabulously expensive underwear?

Furball · 01/10/2004 21:18

What about a session with 'Colour me Beautiful' or similar, then have a great girlie day shopping with a few friends and your new colour scheme and his money.

Rowlers · 01/10/2004 21:19

What about a weekend in Paris?

Tinker · 07/10/2004 09:10

This list was scruntinsed and I will find out later today. [worried emoticon] but as well

was going to steer clear of this thread but actually I think a balloon ride would be fab for a 40th - I'm well passed my 40th but I'm definitely going to treat myself to a professional massage one of these days - a weekend at Champneys or something.

Hope you have a fab birthday when it arrives - remember 'life begins' and it is a great decade!

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2004 10:14

Does that mean the great day is today? if so happy birthday times a million girlfriend. I really hope you have the bestest day ever.

Tinker · 07/10/2004 11:37

It is Scummy 2 bouqets of flowers so far, breakfast in bed and a bath in peace. That'll all do in itself

Happy birthday Tinker! (assuming it is today) - I'm sure he will do you proud!

Lonelymum · 07/10/2004 11:55

Happy Birthday Tinker! Don't forget to tell us what you got!

Bunglie · 07/10/2004 12:45

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I did not tell anyone when it was my 40th birthday...I spent the day alone...
But the following year I told EVERYONE I was 41 and got extra pressies as they felt bad for missing my 40th!!

A bit late for you to do that now though...so have a nice day, pampering yourself, and remember 'The best bit's are yet to come'

I told my friend who cuts dh's hair that I wanted an eternity ring for my 40th.

Dh went for a haircut. friend said "have you got something nice sorted out for easy's present?"
Dh said he didn't know what to get me. Friend offered him some suggestions.

A week before my b'day dh took me shopping, because "I'd like to buy you an eternity ring for your birthday, but I'd like you to choose it".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
What did you get?

Happy birthday, Tinker - I'm hoping the fact that you haven't been here since 11am means you've been swept off your feet and had a superb day! XXX

Hope you had a fab day, what was your present in the end?

Tinker · 08/10/2004 13:17

Well thank you all for the best wishes. I did have a lovely day. Went out for lunch and got lots of lovely pressies there - books, cd's smelly stuf, candles, JL gift voucher . Then in evening got leather handbag, a 3rd bouquet of flowers, more books, cd, champagne, chocolates, very gorgeous poncho (but might change that, not sure it's me) and, ta da, arrived this am (late - they had promised it for yesterday) a very gorgeous silver ring from beety's link. So, I think the boy done good. Then he made (but I was still stuffed from lunch) a hot beef Thai salad for dinner.

Blimey! That's more than I've ever had in 11 years of birthdays and Christmas put together! You are a lucky lady!

Tinker · 08/10/2004 13:22

The stuff at lunchtime wasn't from him! And it's only cos it's a BIG birthday, honestly
